Winner of the Micheal L. Printz Awards for YA literature is Jellicoe Road. I’ve actually never read this book and I should if it’s that good.

Anyways here goes:

(Taken from GoodReads):

“What do you want from me?” he asks. What I want from every person in my life, I want to tell him. More.

Abandoned by her mother on Jellicoe Road when she was eleven, Taylor Markham, now seventeen, is finally being confronted with her past. But as the reluctant leader of her boarding school dorm, there isn’t a lot of time for introspection. And while Hannah, the closest adult Taylor has to family, has disappeared, Jonah Griggs is back in town, moody stares and all.

In this absorbing story by Melina Marchetta, nothing is as it seems and every clue leads to more questions as Taylor tries to work out the connection between her mother dumping her, Hannah finding her then and her sudden departure now, a mysterious stranger who once whispered something in her ear, a boy in her dreams, five kids who lived on Jellicoe Road eighteen years ago, and the maddening and magnetic Jonah Griggs, who knows her better than she thinks he does. If Taylor can put together the pieces of her past, she might just be able to change her future.

Unfortunately, I haven’t read this book so I can’t write a review on it. I really should read this book though so I can actually state my opinion on it.

I’ve been a big fan of Lily Allen since her song “Smile”. She is a great singer who really expresses herself. This is really the golden age of British Singers (i.e. Duffy, Estelle, etc.). I know that what I may be rambling about right now is totally unrelated to Books but I just love her songs. She has a nice melodic voice that easily melts people’s hearts. The first time that I heard her songs I had no idea what the song was about but I loved her voice. The next time I heard the lyrics of the song I was completely surprised. It was like sweet and sour. Lily Allen is really one of my favorite singers ever. She says sing what’s on her mind and isn’t afraid to say sing it.

New Books coming out this new year of 2009. They're on my totally must read list of 2009. Got the summaries from GoodReads.com

I’m so excited!!!! Fairy Tale (or Lust) by Cyn Balog sounds like such a great book. It comes out on June 23rd and I really wanna read it! My patience is running out and so are my exclamation points! Aren’t fairy stories so in now? They’re the new vampires of the YA Book universe. Anyway, I pray to God and to all others that this book will come out sooner. Just to add this, it’s so coincidental that these books come out 2 days after my Birthday. Yeah, that’s right.

Trying to pass on the addiction (Taken from GoodReads.com):

“Morgan Sparks and Cam Browne are a match made in heaven. They’ve been best friends since birth, they tell each other everything, and oh yeah- they’re totally hot for each other.

But a week before their joint Sweet Sixteen bash, everything changes. Cam’s awkward cousin Pip comes to stay, and Morgan is stunned when her formerly perfect boyfriend seems to be drifting away.

When Morgan demands answers, she’s shocked to discover the source of Cam’s distance isn’t another girl- it’s another world. Pip claims that Cam is a fairy. No, seriously. A fairy. And now his people want Cam to return to their world and take his rightful place as Fairy King.

Determined to keep Cam with her, Morgan plots to fool the fairies. But as Cam continues to change, she has to decide once and for all if he really is her destiny, and if their ‘perfect’ love can weather an uncertain future.

Witty, original and unexpectedly touching, FAIRY LUST will captivate fans of TWILIGHT and WICKED LOVELY.”

It ironically comes out on June 11th which is also my birthday month. I was browsing GoodReads.com and I came upon this book. I looked at the summary and I said,” I just have to read this book!”, but then I saw when It was coming out. Very far away from now. Pre-order now (if you can). Prada nd Prejudice by Mandy Hubbard

Trying to pass the addiction (Taken from GoodReads):

“Fifteen-year-old Callie buys a pair of real Prada pumps to impress the cool crowd on a school trip to London . Goodbye, Callie the clumsy geek-girl, hello popularity! But before she knows what’s hit her, Callie wobbles, trips, conks her head… and wakes up in the year 1815!

She stumbles about until she meets the kind-hearted Emily, who takes Callie in, mistaking her for a long-lost friend. Sparks soon fly between Callie and Emily’s cousin, Alex, the maddeningly handsome—though totally arrogant—Duke of Harksbury. Too bad he seems to have something sinister up his ruffled sleeve…

From face-planting off velvet piano benches and hiding behind claw-foot couches to streaking through the estate halls wearing nothing but an itchy blanket, Callie’s curiosity about Alex creates all kinds of trouble.

But the grandfather clock is ticking on her 19th Century shenanigans. Can Callie save Emily from a dire engagement, win a kiss from Alex, and prove to herself that she’s more than just a loud-mouth klutz before her time there is up?”

Once again while browsing good books to read I saw the cover of the book. I thought it was going to be those Luxe/Gossip Girl Books but I ws sadly mistaken. The Cover is breathtakingly beautiful and so is the plot. It’s The Season by debut author Sarah MacLean

Trying to pass the addiction (Taken from GoodReads):

” Seventeen-year-old Lady Alexandra Stafford doesn’t fit into the world of Regency London — she’s strong-willed, sharp-tongued, and she absolutely loathes dress fittings. Unfortunately, her mother has been waiting for years for Alex to be old enough to take part in the social whirlwind of a London Season so she can be married off to someone safe, respectable, wealthy, and almost certainly boring. But Alex is much more interested in adventure than romance.

Between sumptuous balls, lavish dinner parties and country weekends, Alex, along with her two best friends, Ella and Vivi, manages to get entangled in her biggest scrape yet. When the Earl of Blackmoor is killed in a puzzling accident, Alex decides to help his son, the brooding and devilishly handsome Gavin, uncover the truth. It’s a mystery brimming with espionage, murder, and suspicion. As she and Gavin grow closer, will Alex’s heart be stolen in the process?

Romance and danger fill the air, as this year’s Season begins!”

In this 2ist century remake of Shakespear’s old The Midsummer Night’s Dream comes a fantastic book A Match Made in High School by Kristin Walker. Coming in May 14th, I am very excited for this book as well as all the others.

Trying to pass the addiction (Taken from GoodReads):

“ When the principal announces that every senior must participate in a mandatory year-long Marriage Education program, Fiona Sheehan believes that her life can’t get any worse. Then she marries her “husband”: Jerky jock Todd, whose cheerleader girlfriend, Amanda, has had it in for Fiona since day one of second grade. Even worse? Amanda is paired with Fiona’s long-term crush, Gabe. At least Fiona is doing better than her best friend, Marcie, who is paired up with the very quiet, very mysterious Johnny Mercer. Pranks, fights, misunderstandings, and reconciliations ensue in an almost Shakespearean comedy of errors about mistaken first impressions, convoluted coupling, and hidden crushes. “

The Last of the The Luxe Books (unless Anna Godberson changes her mind) I am excited for this one. Godberson’s books always end with cliffhangers. Something tht makes me so frustrated and angry.

Trying to pass the addiction ( Taken from GoodReads):

“ Jealous whispers.
Old rivalries.
New betrayals.

Two months after Elizabeth Holland’s dramatic homecoming, Manhattan eagerly awaits her return to the pinnacle of society. When Elizabeth refuses to rejoin her sister Diana’s side, however, those watching New York’s favorite family begin to suspect that all is not as it seems behind the stately doors of No. 17 Gramercy Park South.

Farther uptown, Henry and Penelope Schoonmaker are the city’s most celebrated couple. But despite the glittering diamond ring on Penelope’s finger, the newlyweds share little more than scorn for each other. And while the newspapers call Penelope’s social-climbing best friend, Carolina Broad, an heiress, her fortune—and her fame—are anything but secure, especially now that one of society’s darlings is slipping tales to the eager press.

In this next thrilling installment of Anna Godbersen’s bestselling Luxe series, Manhattan’s most envied residents appear to have everything they desire: Wealth. Beauty. Happiness. But sometimes the most practiced smiles hide the most scandalous secrets. . . . ”

Sorry, I didn’t write in a month. Been terribly busy & what can you expect? I’m only a young student (no comment on that). Since, there’s been a lot of snow in New England, I have never been so cold and bored in my life! Oh My Hell-o Kitty!!! The stupid snow is getting so annoying.

Today we went sledding with my family and friends. Freezing my butt off there. But it was fun though. I think I actually dislocated one of my shoulders and I have tons of bruises (great fun….) and boy was I smart to ever try “Sled Surfing” – as suggested by a friend-. So, immature. Anyway, while trying “Sled Surfing” I unfortunately fell from my sled and rolled down the stinking hill. I think my forehead bled too. I’ll send you pictures of me getting hurt and being my clumsy self as soon as possible. Just to tell you guys, I really did have fun and not in the sarcastic way that I would usually say when I try to make up my mind or blank out and pretend I did listen to one of your stories.

Also, I know I have not written in a long while but I’ve read tons of books. So, just gonna keep’m comin.

P.S. I’ve been meaning to read this book but I don’ really know if it’s worth a time. * By the way, I do not know how to make those short link things. I just copy and paste. If you do know how, tell me. I’m in dire need of 21st century information like this.

I read the whole entire book, finally! At the end I was surprised to find out the author was from my very own homestate, Connecticut! I’m so patriotic But the book cover is very strange isn’t it? That’s probably Katniss’s pin that was given to her. The bird is most likely the mockingjay. But you’ll find out what a mockingjay is when you read the book, so no need for explanations, capiche?

Katniss Everdeen lives in District 12, part of the futuristic North America now called, Panem. There were 13 districts orginally but was destroyed by the Capitol for their rebellion against the Capitol. To punish them furthermore and to remind the districts that the Capitol still owns them they have the annual Hunger Games,a gruesome reality tv show. Where each district send 2 tributes, boy and girl at the age from 12- 18 years old to a place in the Capitol called the Arena to fight till death until one victor emerges giving the lucky person riches and a comfortable life at ease and the others unfortunate death. When Prim, Katniss’s younger sister is chosen as one of the contestants Katniss immediately volunteers for her sister and is thrust into the Hunger Games along with the one who saved her life in earlier memories, baker’s son Peeta Mallark. Let The Hunger Games begin!

This book makes me question about it’s young adult category. No question it was beautifully written and nicely plotted (is this a word?). I love the author because she’s from Connecticut and trust me I love anyone famous from Connecticut even if it had to be Micheal Jackson. I never read any of her books yet but when I heard of it I was hypnotized to the story and wanted to read it. Really and truly she has captured the hearts of young readers like me and will forever more be one of her fans that will wait for her newest books to come. Apparently, it’s the first of a series. Seamed masterfully with violence, action, comedy and romance you cannot deny The Hunger Games!

Hi, again. Well, everybody’s going to Wal-Mart and buying stuff for their New Years Parties. Wasn’t 2008 a good year? I loved it except for the fact about the U.S. recession, Mccain (sp?) losing and all that. But everybody knows that what keeps us going on dreary days of the years are our books. So, these are my book picks for the year 08. BTW, I could be making top book picks as a new segment. Like doing it every month or so or something. Also, even though the books may have been published in 07 or something, I don’t care.

Greg Heffley has just transferred to -gulp- Middle School where nerds and bullies who by the way already shave share the halway. So when Greg is given a diary by his mom he swears to not be all ” Dear Diary”, this and “Dear Diary”, that. Packed with teen hijinks, funny gags, and little cartoons to match along Diary of a Wimpy Kid is an entertaining read for 10- 14 year olds.

Set in the wondrous world of Harry Potter the book is for the most part like the Grimm Brothers’ Tale that teaches morals. Not for little kids who love Cinderella and happy endings. It’s a great book but surprisingly gross and disgusting in a way. Even though, I recommend you read it. * With commentary by Albus Dumbledore and translated from the ancient runes by Hermione Granger. Once again, I advise parents to not give this to their little kids.

What top book pick would be complete without this?
I watched this movie two days after it was premiered with my family. It’s PG, I think or G. Anyways, I thought it was going to be really bad because well…it’s a kids movie, it’s Disney (not like I don’t like Disney…I despise High School Musical), and I just did not LIKE it.

I was surprised to find that I did KIND of like it. The only thing that made it funny was Bugsy ( the abnormally big-eyed Guinea Pig) and that guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshalls ( he kind of looks like a rockstar?). It;s kind of good and heartwarming in a way. Shows many morals for kids. I dont want to write a summary of it because I dont want to and that’s the point of watching the darn movie.

I’m sorry I didn’t write a review on I’d tell you I Love you but then I’d have to Kill you, It’s just that I did not like the 1st book. It was kind of boring and the writing was humorous but not enough to make me want to read the whole book, only 200+ pages. Instead I just skipped the ending and that was the end of that. Cross my Heart and Hope to Spy is not the case though. Very entertaining and cute. I guess Ally Carter learned from her other book. Especially, entertaining with the over-the-top rumours like Cammie’s mother choking someone with a People’s magazine.

After the incident last year, Cammie wants a normal school year except nothings normal when you’re a spy-in-training. So, what happens when she tries to play host for uknown visitors codename: Blackthorne. And when theirs a security breach in their school Cammie is blamed. You wouldn’t call it a “normal” school year. With the help of Cammie’s trustable friends; Macy, Bex, and Liz will she clear her name?

Great, Entertainin, Funny , Book. It’s pretty cute and I encourage you to read it.
